Browning Island's very own Canada Day Paddle Past
The sun is shining here in Belleville, and plans are afoot: Browning Island is having a Canada Day Paddle Past!
On Sunday July 1 (rain date Monday July 2), choose your non-motorized vessel of choice, and set out alone, with guests, or neighbours. You choose whether you go past five cottages or all the way around, in either direction, greeting other islanders and friends with Canada Day greetings.
You are encouraged to dress in red and white, plus PFD. When you need to fill your reusable water bottle, you may stop at one of our four water stations, to refill your own water bottle and receive a small Canadian flag. Water stations will be open from 8:30 a.m., until 10:30 a.m. The participating stations will each be displaying a Canadian flag, approximately 8 1/2 x 11” on their dock.
Members and friends will be encouraged to take photos of the canoes, paddleboards, kayaks, skiffs, sailboats, and rowboats going by and then submit them to Anne Riley or Elizabeth Ewashkiw to create a collage for the AGM, the website, or the newsletter.
This is an intergenerational and non competitive day, for maximum participation and pleasure. Although some of us are extremely competitive, for this, we are celebrating Canada, not ourselves!
Not everyone has the Internet at the cottage, so we offer that you phone or email your intention to participate, to give us an idea of numbers.
See you on the water,
